Tips
Formation laps can be bad news for engine temperature, so be very careful not to over rev the engine on the formation lap.
Pay particular attention to your radiator opening settings in your race car set-up. A good number as a minimum would be anything higher than 3.
If you cannot see the start lights from your grid position, use the LCD display toggle and watch for the clock to start. This will start the moment the lights go green.
Tires and brakes don't perform at optimum until around after 3/4's of a lap at race speed. Be careful on lap 1 to avoid getting too "racy" as it could cause an unexpected brake lock-up or snap over steer that you cant recover from.
If you find yourself being lapped by the aliens up front, don't make sudden changes in your racing line or swerve to get out of the way. Again, using the LCD toggle will give you a clear indication of who you are actually racing with and you can then judge accurately if you are being lapped or not and can plan it before it becomes an issue.
Most importantly, The F1 79 mod is a challenge that requires a modicum of practice to compete and stay in one piece, and a heck of a lot if you intend to win races, so come prepared. Do some practice on the track your racing on for the round, for example, at least 1 hrs worth on top of the practice session on the night. Other drivers will help you by swapping set-ups in game, but its no substitute for miles around the circuit. Did I say come prepared?....Yes?.......then come prepared.
